Library Week

I had been on the phone with my cousin K, when she asked about what I have been up to this week. This week has been a library week for us. Last weekend was Omar first trip to Die Stadtbibliothek (City Library).

We love it so much that we noted this library will be our second favorite place to visit after the HerrenGarten. The Children section is huge and comfortable. Omar was bewildered by all of the book, he wants to read them all. I was surprised when the librarian told me that we could borrow 50 (yes fifty) books from this libabry at one time. Imagine who would read so many books at one time. Membership for children and student (including university student) cost nothing, while normal citizen would have to pay 10 euros per year, which I think is worth it. The library provide not only books for children, but we could also lend DVD and Videos from it.

Nice to know that Omar find another spot to visit on weekends because these days are a little bit too cold to play outside on the playground or rambling through gardens around our apartment. As for me, this week is also a library week for me. I have a Deutsche test by the end of this week (yes today and tomorrow), so I have to study hard for it. Since it is impossible to study at home (blame it on domestic duties and social network, ehm), so I went to study in the University Library. Membership is also kostenlos / free / gratis here. The University and State Library took place in an old building that used to be a castle / schloss. The studying room was big with high ceiling and huge windows from wall to wall. I imagine the room must be one of the hall in the old castle, like the dancing hall in Cinderella movies. However this library is always full of student studying that it is very hard to find even one chair to sit. But I like to study there because of the silence, yes the silence is deafening, even people will hear your own foot steps echoed when you are circling them to find a sit. One thing I like about Deutscher is they strictly obligated when they were required to keep their mouth shout or simply be silence. With this kind of environment student can concentrate to study, believe me I tried.

How I wished Indonesia, especially Jakarta has one of this library, it is so comfortable that I don't mind spending my weekend there (instead of going to the overcrowded mall in Jakarta), don't you think ? Oh well for the time being, other than being a library wanderer, I better study tonight (at home of course) and ...wish me luck on my test tomorrow.....
