Not many people know what stands behind the R.S.V.P sign below an invitation card. Not many people realize the importance to notice the RSVP stated there.
From my experience back in Jakarta, there are always some people who tend to ignore the request to respond an invitation. Perhaps they would think it is a waste of time to call back the host of the event just to inform whether they were attending the event or not.
While in Germany, to respond quickly to an invitation is not only a polite thing to do but it is also regarded as a respect gesture toward the host of the event. Here, people invite each other all the time. Friends, families, colleagues often being invited to have dinner, barbeque or just simply to sit down, have cups of tea and chat. As soon as they receive an invitation, they would respond to it as quickly as they could because they know the host has already make a lot of efforts to prepare the event. The guests would think they are important to the host, that is why they are being invited and respond to the invitation as quickly as they could regardless they are coming or not to the event.
This small gesture of RSVP is mattered to the guests as they know how to appreciate the spirit of an event hold by the host. The spirit of an event that we all know to share our joy, to make new friends, to strengthen our relationship and the most importantly is to cherish each other company.
So dear friends, the next time you get an invitation, don't forget to RSVP !! cheers !!
